Letter: Democrats should heed the national motto

Edward Luce’s warning to Democrats of the risks in emphasising identity politics is spot on (Global Insight, November 19). Dismissing whole chunks of society as reprehensible is not only divisive bad politics; it abandons our national motto, e pluribus unum, out of the many one.
