Letter: Parliament has powers to return the Elgin Marbles

Downing Street should know better than to claim the return of the Elgin Marbles is a matter for the trustees of the British Museum (“Greece presses UK for Elgin Marbles return”, Report, November 17).

They were bought by an Act of Parliament and they will be sent back once parliament brings forward a new one.

It should happen but somehow you know they will not bother. It is a shame on the nation.
