Woman shares her hack for getting rid of migraine headaches

A woman on TikTok stumbled upon an unorthodox way to cure her migraine headaches.

Andrea Eder (@andreaeder) said she’s suffered from migraines for a long time. She’s one of over 39 million Americans who suffer from migraines. Headaches are just one symptom of migraines, which can cause nausea, dizziness, fatigue and more.

“Migraines are a neurological disease that involve nerve pathways and chemicals,” according to a Penn Medicine interview with Brandeis Brockman, a nurse practitioner.

With many people suffering from migraines — Eder being one of them — she was excited to share the hack she found on TikTok

“All you gotta do is get as hot of water as you can handle, and soak your feet in the water,” she said. “A lot of people said mustard. I didn’t have mustard, so I just went the hot water route. When I tell you that four minutes ago my eyes were shaking and I couldn’t see straight…I am forever grateful to the human beings who have shared this on TikTok.”

Although it could seem unorthodox, there is a specific reason to utilize both tools to cure migraines.

According to Gannady Raskin, dean of the School of Naturopathic Medicine at Bastyr University, the hot water causes your body to redistribute blood from one area to another — which can relieve a hurting head. Also, the oils from the mustard stimulate the skin and remove attention from the migraine.

Eder and her viewers are extremely happy for a home remedy for migraines, as some have previously gone through several options.

“I probably destroyed my organs from the amount of painkillers taken due to migraines every single day,” replied @gysellr.

“Oh yea def going to do this can’t handle this anymore,” commented @alexxoxxx.

If someone doesn’t want to put water and mustard on their feet, there are other ways to treat migraines without medicine.

According to the Mayo Clinic, people who suffer from migraines can do the following:

  • Find a calm environment
  • Sleep well
  • Eat wisely
  • Exercise regularly
  • Manage stress
  • Keep a migraine diary
