Woman shares ‘human tripod’ hack to get perfect pictures

Ahimsa Llamado (@ahimsa.mov) recently posted a photography hack to help her boyfriend find the best angle, and several TikTokers are saying it “changes everything.”

Llamado’s hack is centered on FaceTime screen-sharing. In her strategy, the person taking pictures will start a FaceTime video call with the one being photographed. Then the photographer will share their screen and open the Camera app. Once they do this, the person being photographed can then see the angles and positioning the photographer is using. From there, they can give directions and instantly see how the picture is going to turn out.

“Telling my bf to FaceTime & share his screen w me when taking pics bc he doesn’t get the vision,” she wrote in her post. “Photo hacks for ur human tripod ladiesss.”

In her video, Llamado is able to be hands-on with her photos and coach her boyfriend through the angles and amount of zoom she wants for the pictures.

After seeing the process, several of her viewers filled the comment section with praise for sharing this tactic — with many TikTokers ready to implement it into their photo routines.

“This changes everything,” replied @whitneybop.

“Girl harvard is calling,” commented @jaybearmommy.

Llamado’s hack can help eliminate the need for reference pictures, which are taken to show the photographer exactly what the subject wants.

“Behind every photo is a reference photo of my boyfriend so he knows how I want the shot,” wrote @justine.g_.

Several of Llamado’s commenters also mentioned that this hack can be elevated with an Apple Watch, which would allow people to see what the camera is showing without a FaceTime call.

“If you have no friends. You can also this by yourself if you have an Apple Watch,” replied @lisaleedlelee. “Turn on your camera app on your watch. Set up your phone and use your watch as the camera.”

In order to do this, you’d have to turn on “Apple Watch Mirroring” in the “Accessibility” tab in the Settings app. According to Apple, this will only be available on Apple Watch Series 6 or later.

This hack can also be helpful for those who travel alone and want to take pictures of themselves.

While there are apps like Lens Buddy that aid in controlling the camera like a remote, utilizing the Apple Watch as a second set of eyes could also be useful.
