Letter: Offshore wind will make high prices permanent

The call by the Tory backbench Conservative Environment Network for an expansion of floating offshore wind (“Tory MPs seek increase in output from offshore wind farms to help boost security of supply”, Report, March 7) is misguided. Reviews of financial accounts and operating data for our two extant floating wind farms reveal that this is, by some distance, the most costly way to generate electricity deployed in the UK to date. The plan will therefore make high prices a permanent feature of the UK electricity market.
