Who is Flyana Boss, the viral ‘Christ I’m ‘bout to sin again’ rap duo?

A new rap group, Flyana Boss (@flyanaboss), has started going viral on TikTok for their energetic music videos, leaving many TikTokers wondering where the duo came from.

Flyana Boss is a Los-Angeles based duo powered by Folyan and Bobbi LaNea. They released their first song in October 2019, but have recently found success with the song “You Wish” — specifically with the music video.

While the full music video isn’t out, the duo has released short form versions on various platforms. In the videos, they are running through the streets rapping the song, with a distinct style of editing. Three days before the official audio release of “You Wish,” the duo posted another short form edit of their song, which boosted their popularity online. The post received over 19 million views on TikTok and the song itself has over 162,000 videos credited to it as an audio.

Fans of the duo are infatuated with their running video style and often comment where they want to see the rappers run next. Flyana Boss responds to many of the requests and has several videos running in different areas.

Some of these comments come from major corporations such as Chipotle, Google and even TikTok, with the companies inviting them to film videos at their offices.

“All the brand deals that y’all are swimming in was truly a manifestion,” commented @sa.tomaa.

On top of the corporate praise and recognition they’ve received, the duo has also been props for shining light on Black women. One of the more popular lines is the song says, “I’m made of sugar, spice, kanekalon and cinnamon” — an allusion to a synthetic hair extension used by Black and Brown women.

In the comments of many of their videos, viewers have noted that kanekalon often shows up as a suggested search term.

“‘What is kanekalon’ is sendinggggg me,” replied @4ngelgreen under a video of the duo running through LA Fitness.

The duo hasn’t released new music since June in the wake of their newfound success. Nevertheless, many TikTokers are still occupied with the duo’s random running from “You Wish.”
